The AIESEC Strengths Research Project
David J. Pollay, AIESEC International Hall of Fame member and Master's Student in Applied Positive Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania, is leading the AIESEC International Leadership Strengths Research Project. The mission of the research project is to help AIESEC leaders become more aware of their strengths and to encourage these leaders to develop their strengths fully in support of their goals.
An analysis is being conducted to determine if leaders in AIESEC have a distinct strengths profile compared to others of a similar age and education. We are using the VIA-Inventory of Strengths (VIA-IS) to measure the character strengths of AIESEC members. Click here for an overview of the VIA-IS.
David is supported on this project by Christopher Peterson, Ph.D., world-renown Strengths Researcher, University of Michigan Professor, and University of Pennsylvania visiting professor; and Karen Reivich, Ph.D., acclaimed Resilience Researcher, author, and teacher at the University of Pennsylvania.
Sixty-five (69) Member Committee Presidents (MCP) and MCP-elects participated in the first round of strengths assessments prior to the 2006 International Presidents Meeting in The Netherlands; the remaining incoming and outgoing MCPs are now completing the strengths assessment. Additionally, Member Committee National Staff Members, LCPs, and general members have been invited to participate. Study results will be communicated by David J. Pollay, The Young International Leaders Organization (YILO), and AIESEC International.
